Terry Johnson

Terry John Johnson, age 96, of Old Danville Pike, passed away Monday, May 18, 2009, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Monday, June 3, 1912, in Boyle County, he was a son of the late Jesse and Rogie Daugherty Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was a farmer and a carpenter. He was a member of the Westend Church of Christ.

Survivors include his son, Bruce O. (Doris) Johnson of Stanford; brothers, Thomas Johnson of Danville and Paul Johnson of Gravel Switch; sisters, Margaret Ellis of Gravel Switch, Barbara (Benny) Engle of Stanford, and Betty (Bob) Kolb of Louisville; grandson, Neal (Stacy) Johnson of Stanford; granddaughter, Mary Kay (Brad) Mounce of Eubank; and four great-grandchildren, Tanner, Trenton, Taryn and Katee Beth.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hester Johnson; brothers, Leroy and J.A. Johnson; and sisters, Ethel Wilson and Beatrice Lane.

A Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Bros. Ernest Martin and Jack Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Neal, Roger and Alex Johnson, Barry and Steve Brashear, David Hester, Jimmy and Johnny Wayne Barlow, Jimmy Kolb and Elwood Randolph. Honorary pallbearers will be Benny Engle, Bob Kolb, James Hester, Roger McQueary, Doug Miller, Donald Bender, Jack Johnson, Roy Martin and Greg Franklin.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or Heritage Hospice.

Re: Jacobs Hall Maintenance

The Jacobs Hall Museum Committees, Roger McCowan, Barbie Harris and I have discussed maintenance needs for Jacobs Hall and have agreed that we need you come and help with Jacobs Hall each month for repairs, painting and other duties that need to be done.

The date will be on Saturday, May 16 from 8:30 am until 4:00 pm at Jacobs Hall. You may want to work all day or half day. Each month I will inform you of the date to come.

KY Association of the Deaf will provide food and soft drinks if you stay all day.
